Anthony Petrello serves on the Board of Trustees for the Texas Children’s Hospital. Petrello became interested in TCH after the birth of his daughter Carena, who was diagnosed with Periventricular Leukomalacia, a neurological disorder caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain, which caused Carena to develop Cerebral Palsy. Tony Petrello was shocked to learn that there was very little in the way of treatment for this disease, and even more shocked by how little funding goes toward combating children’s neurological diseases. Since then, Petrello has personally given more than $7 million to TCH and has helped raise even more. With the money raised, he helped establish the the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute, which seeks to find treatment options for children like Carena. Thanks to the work of Anthony Petrello and others, millions of children, parents and family members have hope that children diagnosed with neurological disorders have a better future.
